A World-Class Honour in Mumbai: My Reflections on LIBF Expo 2026

There is a unique energy when the global Lohana community gathers, but what I witnessed this past week at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai was on a different scale entirely. Attending the LIBF Expo 2026—themed 'Mumbai

Calling was a powerful reminder of our community’s reach, spanning over 35 countries.

A Vision Realised

Firstly, I must offer my most heartfelt congratulations to Satishbhai Vithlani and the LIBF Board. To host an event of this magnitude at a venue as prestigious as the Jio Convention Centre is a monumental task. What you have achieved here is truly world-class; it is a testament to visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to our global family.

The Engine and the Fuel

While I am deeply humbled to have been felicitated with an award for my four decades of work in healthcare, infrastructure, and consultancy, I want to be very clear about one thing: I am merely the engine moving forward. The real power the "fuel" that drives every success—lies with the volunteers and my co-trustees. I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of those who work unconditionally at:

  • Jalaram Mandir, Leicester

  • Shreenathdham Haveli, Harrow

  • Jain & Hindu Organ Donation Alliance UK (JHOD)

In 2024, our beloved Jalaram Temple Leicester was honoured with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS). In the UK, this is the equivalent of an OBE for a group the highest honour a voluntary organisation can receive. This spirit of service was mirrored on the LIBF stage in Mumbai. I was particularly delighted to see Professor Sir Nilesh Samani (Deputy Lord Lieutenant), one of our adjudicators, also being felicitated. Seeing such calibre of leadership recognised globally is heartening.

More Than Just Business

The Expo wasn’t just about trade and networking; it was about legacy. Whether it was the Global Lohana Start-Up Cellmentoring young entrepreneurs or the discussions on humanitarian initiatives, the focus remained on "unconditional service."

Jasu and I were moved by the warmth of the reception. Standing on that stage, looking out at the thousands who attended, I felt a renewed sense of duty. This award is dedicated to every volunteer who gives their time without expecting anything in return.

Final Thoughts

As I return to my work, I carry the energy of Mumbai with me. To Shri Bharatbhai Sodha, Pannaben Raja, and Minaben Khagram, thank you for your kind recommendations. And to the Lohana community worldwide: let us keep building, keep serving, and keep moving forward together.

Jay Jalaram.
